I’m often asked by clients how best to take care of my pearls?

Caring for your cultured pearls:

  1. Remember that cultured pearls are precious jewels and should always be treated as such.
  2. Volatile chemicals and cosmetic products will harm pearls if they come near them. Put on your pearl necklace after you have finished applying makeup and perfume.
  3. Perspiration is very harmful for pearls. After wearing a pearl necklace, wipe away any perspiration or dust from it with a soft damp cloth.
  4. Since pearls are soft gems, they should be stored out of things that can scratch them. Soft jewelry pouches or bags are good choices for pearl storing.
  5. Always have pearls strung with a knot between each pearl to avoid abrasion and to prevent loss if the string should break. Be sure to bring your pearl necklace for restringing once a year, as cosmetics and ordinary wear can damage or stretch the threads on which the pearls are strung.
